Question for this week
Zann Gill Background
Premise: The BIG SPLIT - Intelligent Design vs evolutionary emergence is pervasive
not just in the ID/evolution debates, but in alternative ALife approaches and in the conventional approach to game design vs a possible future approach, which might better be described as making collaboratories more "game-like."
Starting from the premise that ALife has come of age to bring its methods to significant challenges, we propose to brainstorm toward real future apps, tying ALife methods to significant problems, such as:
1. How do you define life? "the protocell in a bathtub," Dawkins' puddle
2. What are "life-like categories?
3. ALife solving green tech/ sustainability problems
4. AI/ Alife and the design of learning systems, e.g. influence of the Baldwin Effect
5. ALife ecosystems = multi-agent collaborative complex systems
6. Designing a collaboratory in which co-evolution can occur; the human-computer interaction challenge
Thanks
