The vast majority of people paying for software today demand predictability over emergence. ... Very few are ready to trust emergence for important behaviors.

Those that remain are, typically, game developers interested in providing their customer with challenges they themselves can't anticipate.

While I wouldn't want to shoe-horn the ALife SDK into the "gaming only" niche, it would be foolish to miss out on the potential market there. If it's a feature-full, robust SDK it could go on to be used as the seed for further artificial life experimentation.

Having gotten that opinion out of the way, I'm curious about how one would organize the SDK.

The hooks for physics engines would affect the senses and motion libraries, obviously.

I'd love to hear how those you regularly assemble would organize a set of libraries like this!

On the topic of the EvoGrid, I'd like to chat with Bruce about his work and current implementation.

If it were an Open Source project, I'd be willing to work on it as a volunteer.

What is an ALife SDK?

Is it like a physics SDK? Is it like a graphics SDK?

What genre of games need ALife currently?

First Person Shooters, Massively Multiplay Online, Real Time Strategy, Casual, SecondLife esque

What is the resistive force stopping an ALife SDK?

Spore

Could it be an open source community project?
